PALY is a Los Angeles-based fashion label launched in 2022 by James Franco and designer Kyle Lindgren. Drawing on Hollywood history and the darker side of celebrity culture, the brand approaches clothing as a medium for storytelling, combining familiar casual silhouettes with provocative imagery and graphic experimentation. Its name references Palo Alto, Franco’s hometown, connecting the project to a personal Californian background. Vintage-inspired T-shirts, hoodies, and other relaxed pieces provide a canvas for prints that explore fame, nostalgia, and the mythology surrounding public figures. Distressed finishes and layered visual references give the collections an intentionally worn-in character, placing them between streetwear and an artist-led exploration of American popular culture. Rather than presenting an idealised vision of Hollywood, PALY examines its contradictions, finding creative material in both aspiration and unease.
