Patou is a French fashion house founded in Paris in 1914 by couturier Jean Patou. Known for bringing a sense of freedom and modernity to women’s wardrobes, the founder helped shape the relaxed elegance of the 1920s through sportswear influences, fluid silhouettes, and an understanding of changing lifestyles. His designs offered an alternative to restrictive dressing, connecting Parisian refinement with movement and everyday ease. The house also established a lasting presence in perfumery, notably with Joy, introduced in 1930. Relaunched as Patou in 2019 under artistic director Guillaume Henry, the label reinterpreted its heritage for a contemporary audience. Voluminous shapes, crisp cottons, expressive collars, and playful proportions became part of a wardrobe balancing couture references with approachable charm. Rather than treating its history as a fixed set of rules, Patou draws on its founder’s spirit of modernity, presenting femininity through wit, confidence, and a distinctly Parisian interplay between polish and spontaneity.
