Y/Project is a Parisian fashion label founded in 2010 by Yohan Serfaty and Gilles Elalouf. Initially rooted in menswear, the brand developed a distinctive experimental identity under Glenn Martens, who became creative director in 2013. His approach transformed familiar garments through unexpected construction, exaggerated proportions, and details that invited different ways of wearing the same piece. Twisted denim, elongated sleeves, layered panels, and adjustable silhouettes became recognisable elements, balancing technical ingenuity with irreverent humour. Historical dress references met streetwear and everyday basics, creating contrasts between elaborate shapes and familiar materials. Rather than treating clothing as a fixed form, Y/Project explored its ability to change through movement and personal styling, giving the wearer an active role in the design. The label received the ANDAM Grand Prize in 2017, recognising its contribution to contemporary fashion. Its influence lies in challenging conventional ideas of fit and function, presenting a wardrobe shaped by transformation, ambiguity, and the creative possibilities hidden within ordinary clothes.
