Founded in Antwerp in 2017 by Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh, Botter quickly established itself as one of fashion’s most distinctive new voices. The Dutch-Caribbean designers bring together their Caribbean heritage, Dutch upbringing and Antwerp’s experimental fashion tradition, using clothing as a platform to explore identity, culture, politics and the environment. Their work is recognised for its imaginative world-building, merging traditional menswear with references to the sea, sport and Caribbean culture. Botter’s collections are deliberately unconventional, combining oversized tailoring, inventive knitwear, vivid graphics and unexpected materials with playful references to everyday objects and maritime life.
